GOD’s Gospel

Deeply Rooted Series Pt. 3

When someone shares a message with you, credibility matters. If you don’t know them, you might ignore what they say. But if they’re proven, trustworthy, and consistent, you lean in.

That’s exactly what Paul is addressing in Galatians 1. His authority was being questioned. False teachers weren’t just challenging doctrine, they were attacking Paul personally. Why? Because if you can discredit the messenger, you can destabilize the message.

But Paul makes something crystal clear:

The Gospel he preaches didn’t come from man.
It wasn’t edited by culture.
It wasn’t invented for relevance.

This is GOD’s Gospel. And deeply rooted believers must understand that.

Focus Scripture: Galatians 1:11–24

Value Revelation Over Relevance (Galatians 1:11–12)

Paul says the Gospel he preached was not of human origin. It came by revelation from Jesus Christ.

That matters.

What humans create, humans can revise.
What God reveals, we are called to receive and obey.

We live in a time obsessed with relevance. People want a message that feels accessible, relatable, and comfortable. But the danger comes when we sacrifice revelation for popularity. When we soften truth to avoid offense. When we round the sharp edges of Scripture so it goes down easier.

But the Gospel is not superficial, it is supernatural.

From Genesis 3:15, when God promised redemption in the garden, to Christ’s finished work on the cross, the Gospel has always been God’s plan. It doesn’t evolve with trends. It doesn’t adjust to public opinion.

Relevance shifts. Revelation stands.

Deeply rooted believers anchor themselves in what God has said, not what culture prefers.

Know Your “Then and Now” (Galatians 1:13–17)

Paul reminds the Galatians of his past. He persecuted the church. He approved of Stephen’s execution. He was zealous for tradition and hostile toward Christ.

But then comes the turning point:

“But when God…”

That phrase changes everything.

Paul’s story is a story of transformation. Not self-improvement. Not moral evolution. Rescue.

Every saint has a past. And in Christ, every sinner has a future.

Deeply rooted believers don’t pretend their “then” didn’t exist. They own it. But they don’t live stuck in it either. Their “now” is defined by what Christ has done, not by what they used to be.

And that kind of transformation isn’t safe or comfortable. Following Jesus isn’t quiet or convenient. It means confronting sin. Speaking truth. Standing for righteousness even when it costs you socially.

Christianity has never been about staying comfortable. It’s about being changed.

So the question becomes:
Do you know your “then and now”?
Has the Gospel changed you?
Or have you simply added Jesus to your existing life?

Live Lives That Lead Others to Glorify God (Galatians 1:18–24)

The churches heard about Paul’s transformation: “He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith he once tried to destroy.”

And what was the result? “They glorified God because of me.”

That’s the goal.

Not that people admire our discipline.
Not that they applaud our drive.
Not that they celebrate our personality.

But that they glorify God because of our lives.

Deeply rooted believers live in such a way that their story makes no sense without Christ.

Their love points to Him.
Their patience reflects Him.
Their boldness reveals Him.
Their generosity echoes Him.

The Gospel doesn’t just save us, it reshapes us.

And no matter how hard the enemy tries to distort it, suppress it, or attack it, Jesus promised that the gates of hell will not prevail against His church.

GOD’s Gospel changed Paul.
GOD’s Gospel sustained the early church.
And GOD’s Gospel is still saving and sustaining today.

Our Call

If we are going to get our faith right, we must get GOD’s Gospel right.

Know the Gospel clearly.
Cling to it relentlessly.
Guard it courageously.
Live it boldly.

Because deeply rooted believers don’t just endure hardship.
They stand firm in the truth that never changes.
